1. ApeiroCraft
Free; Solo $19/mo, Team $79/mo, Agency $149/mo
Our own product, so read this entry as interested. Proposals go out as links with read tracking (opens and re-opens) and an e-signature that records name, email, IP and a UTC timestamp. An accepted proposal becomes an invoice in one click, and contacts, tasks and a team notes wiki sit on the same records. Pricing is per account, not per user: Solo covers three people for $19 a month, Team five for $79, Agency twenty for $149. It's the only tool on this page with a free plan that doesn't expire. Dubsado is ahead on scheduling, the client portal and automation; ApeiroCraft has none of those, and no time tracking or API either.
- Pick it if
- Small teams who want proposals, invoices and a CRM working on day one, with a free plan
- Skip it if
- You need a scheduler, a client portal or Dubsado-style custom workflows
2. HoneyBook
$36–$129/mo monthly ($29–$109 billed yearly)
Closest to Dubsado in spirit: scheduler, questionnaires, proposals and payments built in. Monthly plans are $36, $59 and $129 ($29 to $109 billed yearly). HoneyBook processes client payments itself, with US card fees from 2.9% + 25¢, and serves only the US, Canada, the UK and Australia.
- Pick it if
- Creatives in the US, Canada, the UK or Australia who want scheduling and payments in one place
- Skip it if
- You're based elsewhere, or want to keep client payments on your own processor
3. Moxie
$12/mo Starter, $25 Pro, $40 Teams ($10/$20/$32 billed annually)
Proposals, contracts, invoicing and time tracking on every plan, with a client portal from Pro ($25 a month). Starter is $12 a month, the cheapest paid plan here, and Teams is $40 for up to five members. Billed monthly if you like, where Dubsado's prices are yearly.
- Pick it if
- Solo freelancers who want the lowest monthly price and time tracking
- Skip it if
- You need more than five team members
4. Plutio
$19/mo Core, $49 Pro, $199 Max
A wide feature set for the price, including proposal view tracking. Core ($19) is built for solo work and capped at nine active clients; Pro ($49) removes the cap and includes 30 contributors. The trial is 7 days, against Dubsado's 21.
- Pick it if
- Solo freelancers who want a broad all-in-one, paid month to month
- Skip it if
- You have more than nine active clients on the $19 plan
5. Hello Bonsai
Essentials $25/user/mo ($19 annual); Basic $15 has no proposals
Proposals with view notifications, contracts and invoicing from the Essentials plan ($25 per user monthly, $19 annually); the $15 Basic plan has none of them. Elite ($59 per user) needs three users. 7-day trial.
- Pick it if
- Freelancers who want proposals, contracts and invoicing without building workflows
- Skip it if
- You're a growing team: it's per user, and proposals start at the $25 Essentials tier
6. Prospero
$19/user/mo, or $12 billed annually
Guided, questionnaire-driven proposals with e-signatures, at $19 per member a month or $12 billed annually. It stops at the proposal: no invoicing and no client pipeline, so it replaces only one part of Dubsado.
- Pick it if
- You mainly used Dubsado for proposals and want them to look better
- Skip it if
- You also want invoicing, a CRM or scheduling
7. Qwilr
Starter $35/user/mo annual ($49 monthly)
The best-looking proposals in the category: interactive pricing, embedded video and accept-and-sign. Starter is $49 per user monthly or $35 annually; Growth ($55) needs five users and Scale ($75) ten, both annual only.
- Pick it if
- Agencies that want designed, interactive proposals and will invoice elsewhere
- Skip it if
- You need invoicing, a CRM or scheduling, or you're one person on a budget
How to choose
List what you actually use Dubsado for. If it's scheduling and automated workflows, look at HoneyBook (if you're in one of its four countries) or stay on Dubsado Premier; nothing else on this page replaces both. If it's proposals, contracts and invoices, almost every tool here does that with far less setup.
Then price it for your team. Dubsado's three included users make Starter good value for a small team paying yearly, at under $28 a month. For three people billed monthly, ApeiroCraft is $19, Moxie $40, Plutio $49 and Prospero $57, and Bonsai Essentials $75. Questions
- Is there a free alternative to Dubsado?
- Yes. ApeiroCraft has a free plan with no time limit and no card: one person, three proposals and three invoices sent a month, with e-signature and read tracking. It's the only tool on this page with a free plan; the rest, Dubsado included, offer trials of 7 to 30 days. The trade-off is that it has no scheduler or client portal, which Dubsado has.
- What is the best Dubsado alternative?
- If you rely on scheduling and payments and you're in the US, Canada, the UK or Australia, HoneyBook. For the lowest price with time tracking, Moxie. For proposals, invoices and a CRM with almost no setup and a free plan, ApeiroCraft. If you depend on Dubsado's custom workflows, nothing here replaces them one for one.
- How much does Dubsado cost?
- Starter is $335 a year and Premier is $525 a year. Three users are included, extra users start at $25 a month, and scheduling and workflows are on Premier only. There's a 21-day trial. Prices checked 7 October 2026.
- Why do people switch from Dubsado?
- Common reasons are the setup time its workflows take, paying up front for a year, and that scheduling and workflows sit on the $525 Premier plan.
