For electricians

A rewire quote that doesn't mention plastering is a dispute waiting to happen.

Larger electrical jobs — a full or partial rewire, a consumer unit or panel upgrade, an EV charger, a kitchen's worth of new circuits — are quoted after a survey and sent as a total. The parts that cause trouble aren't the cable runs. They're whether you're chasing walls and who makes good afterwards, what happens if the supply needs upgrading, what the certification and inspection include, and how long the power is off.

ApeiroCraft sends the quote as a link with the scope, exclusions, making-good, testing and certification set out. You see when the customer opens it and comes back to it, they sign in the browser, and the deposit is invoiced from the accepted quote in one click.

Where electrical quotes cause problems later.

Making good

You chase the walls, lift the floorboards and fill the channels. The customer expected the walls to be ready to paint. Unless the quote says who plasters and decorates, it's your problem.

What you find behind the wall

Old wiring that can't be reused, a supply that won't take the new load, or a fault that has to be fixed before the job can continue. Without a clause for it, it's an argument about price.

The quote that went quiet

Larger electrical jobs are often one of several trades the customer is lining up. You can't tell if your quote has been opened or is waiting on a builder's schedule.

From survey to deposit, on one record.

Step 1

Scope by circuit and room

Write the job as sections — new circuits, accessories by room, the board, bonding, testing — with what's included, so the customer sees the work and not just a total.

Step 2

See if it's been read

The quote link records each open and re-open. If the customer has read it three times, they have questions; if they haven't opened it, a reminder is all that's needed.

Step 3

Signed before you book the days

The customer signs in the browser. The signature records name, email, IP address and a UTC timestamp, and the signed quote can't be changed.

Step 4

Deposit from the accepted quote

One click turns the accepted quote into a draft invoice. Set it to the deposit for materials, add your payment link, and convert again for the balance.

What an electrical quote has to include.

Regulations decide how the work is done and certified where you are. The quote decides what the customer thinks they're getting.

Scope and accessories

If it's left vague

The customer expects extra sockets, outdoor lighting or data points that weren't priced.

With ApeiroCraft

List circuits, accessory counts by room, and the accessory range or finish.

Making good and decoration

If it's left vague

Channels and holes are left for someone, and the customer thinks it's you.

With ApeiroCraft

Say whether you fill and make good, to what standard, and that plastering and decoration are excluded or priced.

Supply, faults and unforeseen work

If it's left vague

An existing fault or supply limit stops the job and there's no agreed process.

With ApeiroCraft

Explain that faults or supply upgrades found during the work are quoted separately before you proceed.

Testing, certification and notification

If it's left vague

The customer doesn't know what paperwork they'll get, or who notifies the authority.

With ApeiroCraft

State the testing and certificate you'll provide and who handles any notification or inspection.

Access and power-off time

If it's left vague

The family is without power longer than expected, or rooms aren't clear.

With ApeiroCraft

Give the expected duration, when power will be off, and what the customer needs to clear.

Common questions.

How do electricians usually price bigger jobs?

Larger jobs like rewires and panel upgrades are usually fixed-price quotes built from labour days and materials. Smaller work is often an hourly or half-day rate plus parts, and some electricians use fixed prices for common tasks like an EV charger install. A deposit to cover materials is common on bigger jobs. ApeiroCraft holds whatever structure you use; it doesn't set prices.

What does a partial rewire quote look like here?

A summary of the survey; scope covering new circuits for the ground floor, a new consumer unit, accessories counted by room in a stated range; making-good by filling channels, with plastering and decoration excluded; a clause that existing faults found elsewhere are quoted separately; testing and certification included; three days with power off on day one and two. The customer reopens it twice, signs it, and you invoice the materials deposit.

When is ApeiroCraft the wrong tool for an electrician?

It doesn't produce certificates or test results, schedule engineers, dispatch jobs, track hours or hold a parts price book. If most of your work is reactive call-outs, a field-service app is a better fit. ApeiroCraft helps with the bigger quoted jobs where a clear scope and a signed deposit matter.

Can I quote an EV charger install as a fixed package?

Yes. Save a standard EV charger proposal with what's included — cable run up to a stated length, the charger or customer-supplied unit, testing — and what's extra. Duplicate it for each customer and adjust.

Is a phone signature enough for my records?

ApeiroCraft records the signer's name, email, IP address and a UTC timestamp, and the signed quote can't be altered. Whether that's sufficient for a particular contract depends on where you work; check if you're unsure.

Put the making-good in the quote.

Save your standard exclusions once and send them with every rewire and upgrade.
