Moxie alternatives in 2026

Moxie is hard to beat on price for a solo freelancer: $12 a month on Starter, $25 on Pro and $40 on Teams ($10, $20 and $32 billed annually). The ceiling is Teams, which holds up to five team members, and the client portal starts at Pro. If you've outgrown it, want a free plan, or need something it doesn't do, here are six alternatives with what they actually cost.

1. ApeiroCraft

Free; Solo $19/mo, Team $79/mo, Agency $149/mo

Our own product, so read this entry as interested. Proposals go out as links with read tracking (opens and re-opens) and an e-signature that records name, email, IP and a UTC timestamp. An accepted proposal becomes an invoice in one click, and contacts, tasks and a team notes wiki sit on the same records. Pricing is per account, not per user: Solo covers three people for $19 a month, Team five for $79, Agency twenty for $149. For one paying person Moxie Starter ($12) is cheaper than Solo ($19), though the free plan costs nothing if three proposals and three invoices a month is enough. No time tracking, scheduler, client portal or API.

2. Plutio

$19/mo Core, $49 Pro, $199 Max

Similar territory to Moxie: a broad freelance toolkit, with proposal view tracking. Core ($19) is built for solo work and capped at nine active clients; Pro ($49) removes the cap and includes 30 contributors, which is room Moxie Teams doesn't have; Max is $199.

Pick it if
Solo freelancers who want a different all-in-one with proposal view tracking
Skip it if
You have more than nine active clients on the $19 plan

3. Hello Bonsai

Essentials $25/user/mo ($19 annual); Basic $15 has no proposals

Proposals with view notifications, contracts and invoicing from Essentials ($25 per user monthly, $19 annually); the $15 Basic plan has none of them. Elite ($59 per user) needs three users. 7-day trial.

Pick it if
Freelancers who want proposals, contracts and invoicing in a per-user tool with no team ceiling
Skip it if
You're price-sensitive: three people on Essentials cost $75 a month against Moxie Teams at $40

4. Dubsado

$335/yr Starter, $525/yr Premier

Proposals, contracts, invoices and a client portal on both plans; scheduling and workflows on Premier. Starter is $335 a year with three users included and extra users from $25 a month, so it can grow past Moxie's five. Setup takes real time.

You want to be up and running in an afternoon

5. HoneyBook

$36–$129/mo monthly ($29–$109 billed yearly)

A scheduler, questionnaires, proposals and payments in one place. Monthly plans are $36, $59 and $129 ($29 to $109 billed yearly). HoneyBook processes client payments itself, with US card fees from 2.9% + 25¢, and serves only the US, Canada, the UK and Australia.

Pick it if
Creatives in the US, Canada, the UK or Australia who need scheduling and payments
Skip it if
You're based elsewhere, or want to keep client payments on your own processor

6. Prospero

$19/user/mo, or $12 billed annually

A proposal specialist: guided, questionnaire-driven building with e-signatures, at $19 per member a month or $12 billed annually. No invoicing and no client pipeline, so most Moxie users would keep a second tool.

Pick it if
You want better-looking proposals than Moxie's, and nothing else
Skip it if
You use Moxie's invoicing or time tracking: Prospero has neither

How to choose

Work out what you're leaving for. If it's team size, check each tool's ceiling: ApeiroCraft goes to 20 people on one plan, Dubsado adds users from $25 a month, and per-user tools like Bonsai have no ceiling but grow in cost with every seat. If it's price, little here beats Moxie for one person, apart from a free plan.

Then check the features you'd lose. Moxie includes time tracking on every plan; ApeiroCraft and Prospero don't have it. If you need scheduling, look at HoneyBook or Dubsado Premier.
