For ghostwriters

In ghostwriting, the confidentiality clause is part of what they're buying.

Ghostwriting engagements depend on access. A book needs hours of interviews spread over months; a LinkedIn programme needs a weekly call and quick approvals. When the client cancels interviews, the schedule collapses — and when they're ready, they want it finished in half the time. Meanwhile credit, confidentiality and who owns the drafts are often left to an understanding.

ApeiroCraft sends the engagement as a link with the interview schedule, draft milestones, revision limits, confidentiality and credit terms. You see when it's opened and reopened, the client signs in the browser, and each milestone — or each month — is invoiced from the accepted proposal.

Where ghostwriting engagements stall.

Interviews that keep moving

The executive cancels three interview sessions in a row. The manuscript date doesn't move in their mind, and you have nothing to point to.

The rewrite after the rewrite

A full draft goes to a spouse, a business partner, an editor friend. Each wants a different book. Without revision limits, you write it three times.

Credit and discretion

Can you list the client on your website? Will you be thanked in the acknowledgements? If it's not written, it becomes awkward at exactly the wrong moment.

From discovery to manuscript, milestone by milestone.

Step 1

Milestones that match the work

Write outline, sample chapter, first draft, revised draft and final as milestones, each with what's delivered and when the next one starts.

Step 2

See when it's being considered

Opens and re-opens are recorded on the link. An executive reopening the proposal days later is often waiting on someone else — a good time to offer a call.

Step 3

Confidentiality and credit, signed

The signature records name, email, IP address and a UTC timestamp and can't be changed — so confidentiality and credit terms are on record from day one.

Step 4

Milestone or monthly invoices

Convert the accepted proposal into the first invoice, then again at each milestone. Monthly programmes are invoiced against the client record.

What a ghostwriting proposal has to include.

A ghostwriting proposal manages access, voice and discretion — not just words.

Interview schedule

If it's left vague

Cancelled interviews push the manuscript but not the deadline.

With ApeiroCraft

State the number and length of interviews, and that delivery dates move when sessions are missed.

Voice capture

If it's left vague

The client is surprised the draft doesn't sound like them.

With ApeiroCraft

Describe how you'll capture their voice and the sample stage where it's approved.

Drafts and revisions

If it's left vague

Rewrites are requested until everyone is happy.

With ApeiroCraft

Limit revision rounds per milestone and say how further rounds are charged.

Confidentiality

If it's left vague

Unclear what you can say about the work, ever.

With ApeiroCraft

Write what stays confidential, and for how long.

Credit and ownership

If it's left vague

Unclear whether you're credited and who owns drafts.

With ApeiroCraft

State credit (none, acknowledgement, 'with'), when rights transfer, and portfolio use.

  • Milestone invoices from one accepted proposal.
  • Private notes per client for interview notes and voice cues.
  • Invoice currency set per invoice for international clients.

Common questions.

How do ghostwriters usually price?

Books are commonly priced as a project fee split into milestones; shorter work like articles or LinkedIn posts is often a monthly retainer for a set number of pieces, or a per-piece fee. Some book projects include a share of royalties, which needs careful agreement. ApeiroCraft doesn't set fees; it holds whichever structure you use.

What does a book ghostwriting proposal look like?

Twelve 90-minute interviews over three months; an outline and sample chapter approved before full drafting; a full draft, one structural revision and one line-edit round; confidentiality during and after the project; credit as an acknowledgement only; rights transfer on final payment; payments at signing, sample approval, first draft and final. The client reopens the confidentiality section twice, signs, and you invoice the first milestone.

When is ApeiroCraft not the right fit for a ghostwriter?

It doesn't schedule interviews, record or transcribe calls, or track hours. If a publisher is contracting you, they'll usually send their own agreement. ApeiroCraft fits direct client work where you write the terms.

Can I add an NDA?

You can put confidentiality terms in the proposal itself, so they're signed with everything else. If the client's legal team requires their own NDA, have that signed separately.

Is there a ghostwriting template?

Yes. The ghostwriting template covers how you'll capture their voice, interview and draft schedules, revision limits, confidentiality and credit terms.
